National Defense

National Defense Committee assists members in carrying out the patriotic, educational, and historical objectives of the National Society and to promote an en-lightened public opinion. It has always advocated a strong American military defense. Chapters are encouraged to read the National Defense message at every meeting, and to contact high schools and colleges in Washington, DC that sponsor ROTC programs, and offer to present a ROTC medal to the outstanding cadet.  The program extends to grades 5-11 with the award of the Good Citizenship Medal awarded to a member of a youth service and patriotic organizations, whose membership fulfills the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism, such as scouts, police cadets, and other community service organizations.
